Hej,
I am Dániel Oszkár Rákos from Hungary. I do my voluntary work in Kållered Fritidsgård and sometimes together with Lindomegården. My project is basically to care about and develope the music activity of the youngsters in both youth centers, but my purpose is to widen my work with art and some other links to cultural aspects as well.
So far, I can say, it was just a dawn of my EVS life with all part of it: changing lifestyle, living in a new city (in between new citiesJ), collecting new experiences in a different work ambience with different facilities and also some difficultues with language and cultural issues during to start working with swedish kids.
I’ve got so much helps from my mentor and from the organization too, I really have not expected that it could be possible. Good colleagues and also nice people what supports the quickest process to fit in my new work and life situation. Fine thing to perceive that our ideas are accepted and get help for achieve.
The fritidsgård as a general institute is a huge playground to me to discover new situations and develope creativity – it is true for both sides like myself and hopefully for the people too who I work with. It is important for me according to my previous pedagogical work experiences, that to have real opportunities.
In the same time the adaptation had some non-expected (or to specify not conceived) difficulties for instance to get connection with kids with different culture and language. I have both nice and hard experiences with it, especially as this first month was about to fraternize with the youngsters and the millieu together with to come out with goals and real plans.
As it is probably perceptible from my words it gave me already so much usable observations and the EVS on-arrival training last week in Stockholm just improves all these feelings. I can say this training course had provided me more comfort and assurance to continue well and hopefully to step up a level as well.
And the next level is to organize programs, workshops what are meaningful and also fun. Yesterday was my first social activity what I organized in my youth center. It was a Hungarian night with a short presentation about Hungary and its culture, I’ve cooked and served food and dessert while we listened to a self-made compillation of hungarian music. It was a pretty fine evening, there was many kids who were grateful with my efforts and some other volunteers too who are made it more fun.
Well, this was it first, I’m sure that my next turn will be full of with great experiences and beneficial outcomes.
Vi ses,
Dániel
